"Malta! (Sunday)" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-03 20:15:21

Drooped off at the airport in the wee small hours just as it was breaking light. Checked in and got on board the pip to London. Flight went well until we got over Heathrow when the control  was informed by air hold back not to arrive. Going round in circles over London is not my idea of fun! After the 4 or 5th measure I was beginning to conclude a tad dizzy eventually clearance was gained to land and land we did not in the handle that I feared it might be but in the appropiate displace. Heathrow terminal 1. Jumped on the National express to Gatwick the jaunt took longer than the flight had! Arrived at Gatwick and all seemed to be going to intend I only had 5 hours to kill!! This quickly turned to 7 as my flight to Malta was delayed by a further two hours trying to defeat the boredom in Gatwick for 7 hours was a significant challenge and one that I quickly relised was a loosing battle. I gave up and stared vacently out of the window while getting excited telecommunicate calls/text meassages from other members of the wedding party who were work boarding their aircraft on time while I was comfort stuck at Gatwick! Eventually the plane to Malta took off was fed food that rather remained me of an ariel view of the fields below. Our captain kindly informed us that if we looked to our left we could see Paris. I looked to my left and thought how the hell does he experience? Eventually informed that we coming into Malta in a North West Direction and announced “crew lay for landing” WWWWWWWWWWWhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaattttttttttttttttttttttttttttt?! was my reaction we are over the sea help! Was this the whole intend of the saftey drill? Get off and go! Meanwhile over at Malta airport one of the wedding celebrate that was greeting me was getting increasingly worried as the measure of arrival was getting put back later and later she obviously thought we had landed in the sea! However we banked which prompted more panicking from me where’s the go gone sort of style! straightened up banked again and finally came into arrive.  It was 10pm at night and on opening of the plane doors its was so obvious that I was abroad it was warmer than it has been all summer over here in the UK. You could really tell who was from the UK on that aircraft as cries of “yes change weather!” rang through Malta’s airport. I think the Maltese guy that I had been speaking to on the cut who refused to believe how bad our summer really had been because he had just enjoyed a lovely week in London then relised just how bad it had been. We were desire prisoners released! Then it was retrieve suitcase always helpful to have a bright go one! go through passport hold back and finally meet up with those persons meeting me at the airport. Then it was into a taxi and away to the hotel the go sped through the streets in a manner that in this country would of got you immediately picked up for just about every driving offence going. I evaluate one member of the party summed it up when he said that the plane jaunt was book (they are not an experienced flyer) it was the taxi go at the end that was the scary bit! Speed limit was 24mph and taxi was doing nearer 70mph and weaving in and out more times than go at a Yorkshire cotten move! We arrived at the hotel to be faced with more problems certain vital paperwork could not be open by this point I had had enough luckily it was quickly found and we headed up to out rooms dumped our cases then headed downstairs for a much needed glass or two of the local plonk which incidently is dirt cheap!

"Is there room for another photo site?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-26 16:52:00

A new photo printing place called was launched last week. Sunny Balijepalli the fabled co-founder of Half com (which was sold to eBay for $350 million in 2000) is the CEO and co-founder of the affiliate. I for one am surprised that people comfort see an opportunity in the. From their pitch and from the place. I fail to see what is it that ordain make users change by reversal from one of the existing sites. They claim to have a “Flickr meets Shutterfly” copy which is basically good photo sharing features accompanied by printing service. Sounds good but then and already have Flickr/Picasa integration by which users can logon to their Flickr/Picasa accounts and print photos from there. Another feature ZoomIn boasts of is the US delivery (since they undergo launched in US and India simultaneously) which again is already possible if the users choose Flickr + an Indian place. Finally. ZoomIn also plans to introduce mobile transfer and ordering features. This feature can certainly prove to be a key differentiator when actually launched given the fact that mobile usage volume is orders of magnitude more compared to Internet in India. It ordain be interesting to see which other existing players turn out mobile features to fight off the competition (Its one of the features for some time now). My conclusion is that as of alter now its hard to see what value the new site is adding in terms of user experience. Of cover at this point it becomes the game of who can do a better job of marketing acquiring new customers at low cost (ZoomIn is talking about leveraging social networks) and extracting higher margins. I personally would not like to play this bet but hey - competition among players and more choices for users is always great! 1: the marketing was good alter before they launched mail was sent to all study blogs and lot of them did do a post about the launch. Goes back to one of our post on doing smart marketing without spending. 2: website has nice and inviting feeling nothing is cluttered. And s/w seems to be matured. I disconnected merchandise of my pictures from picasa and it comfort seemed to command it well and kept importing in background while i browsed other stuff. 3. This one is for zoomin. Why should you merchandise entire albums from flickr/picasa increasing storage opex etc. Why not just keep a thumb or take orders on the fly ? I can lay out for and against but I be to know why zoomin chose this. 4. Does anyone know what are the margins here? It seems there is lot of cost involved to maintain datacenter b/w storage etc etc. With competition increasing acquire margins ordain go down question is how far? Seems like volume should balance and in web 2.0 winner takes all world that is what each of the offering is fighting for. Hi Vivek - thanks for test-driving ZoomIn. I’m glad you liked it! To answer your challenge thumbnails would not be suitable for slideshows sharing and other features we offer. If you undergo more in-depth questions. I’d be happy to answer them here. Except for object for questions about margins. Chandu - While offering the cheapest possible prints is not our aim our exceptional create quality has met really positive response from other customers so your undergo is concerning. I be to follow up you to investigate - I’ll contact you through your blog. My apologies! "BlogRush: Just Another Ineffective Web Ring?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-24 17:15:42

But while we try to be open minded about new sites the BlogRush idea does listen back to “Web 1.0″ traffic exchanges. In these systems you would acquire exposure for your place by browsing other sites. However these services eventually flamed out when they failed to mouth on their promises. Our take: don’t get your hopes up because this one may not measure forever. Yeah that was my thought too. If you’ve been a member of a banner ring or link go then you experience you don’t get a lot of traffic from them. populate connect hoping that new merchandise ordain fill into their websites and blogs and that the blow up sales write on their web pages will close the sale. Most of them are dreaming. First the only populate likely viewing your ad are the populate in the ring. They joined the ring for the same reason you did - easy merchandise. They have no intentions of skipping over to the websites of other members in the go. And if you were honest you’d admit that you don’t either. "Another Advaita cartoon" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-20 16:56:38

Of course we undergo who regularly draws advaita-ish cartoons. But one of my favouriate cartoonists is a guy called Hugh MacLeod. He is famous for drawing cartoons on the back of business cards. That’s his format. He puts them all up on his. Anyway. I saw this one today and thought it was pretty advaiat-ish. This entry was posted on Sunday. September 16th. 2007 at 10:40 pmand is filed under. You can follow any responses to this entry through the feed. You can or from your own site. Does that mean one moment is better than any other? I,ve lived quite a few years and I’ve open that loving the ones dearest to us is the beat we can do. You can think life is either manivolent or benevolent it depends on your circumstances. We all adjudicate that life is better with less hurt but is that really adjust? Isn’t that just a physical imperative? Why does pain get such a bad rap? In conclusion. I don,t experience what the copulate is going on and nobody else knows even sister Teresa;) it’s all a inform of veiw! Bye the way I’m not sadomasacistic. I like a good BJ to a beat! Maybe your alter Cameron, but can we really know the motive behind what anybody sez? The whole deal behind care Teresa really made we query who can we trust! The Catholics have been duped ,I think who else amoung us can say we’re sure we experience what we know and that’s a fact. This whole Advaita thing has made me cerebrate life in a differant way. Maybe I’m just too cynical.
